Founder's Statement

 

I didn’t grow up an athlete. I didn’t grow up vegan.


In my late 40s, I found myself sitting in my primary care doctor’s office, concerned about slightly elevated blood pressure. I asked for pills, looking for a quick fix. Instead, he gave me a challenge: lose 20 pounds. No prescriptions. Simply drop from around 230 pounds to 210 and come back in a couple of months. That moment changed everything.


Not long after, I laced up my shoes and ran a single mile. It wasn’t fast or impressive, but something shifted. That one mile, paired with a move toward a fully plant based lifestyle, sparked a transformation that reshaped my body, my mindset, and my sense of purpose.


I didn’t adopt a vegan diet because it was trendy. I did it after digging into the science. I wanted facts, not fads or hacks. 


What I found worked. My bloodwork improved. Recovery accelerated. Energy climbed. Mental clarity returned. I wasn’t just exercising. I was optimizing.


From that first mile grew a willingness to take on physical challenges. That led to CrossFit workouts, Hyrox competitions, and ultra distance runs, to name a few. . Not for trophies or attention, but because improving health built confidence, and confidence created a desire to test limits. I started choosing goals that were difficult, uncertain, and sometimes uncomfortable.


The point was never perfection. It was longevity, capability, and the discipline to show up fully for the people I love. That’s the real goal. To live a long, healthy life. To be strong, capable, and present. Plantblood is the result of that journey. It represents choosing resilience over comfort. Plants over compromise. Grit over convenience. 


Along the way, I’ve connected with others on the same path. Vegan athletes and purpose driven individuals of all ages who are redefining what strength looks like for the next generation.


This approach is for those who don’t rely on hype or motivation. They rely on mindset, the kind the Finns call SISU. Unyielding determination in the face of adversity.


This space is for anyone curious about living healthier, stronger for a longer life, and more ethically through plant based choices. We choose plants because the science supports both human health and reduced harm.
